Dear Brothers and Sisters, family and friends
Thank you once again for all your love support and prayers as the Lord sends us around this world with The eternal message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. In 2014 we were out of the country nine months out of 12.
We saw thousands saved, hundreds baptized in the Holy Spirit and many many healed by the power of the blood of Jesus. With Between 40 and 50 pastors conferences in seven countries, more than 1000 Pastors heard the message of the cross probably for the first time and received the expositor study Bible. Jesus said when I return to the earth will I find faith?!! He didn’t say will I find you doing this and doing that going here and going there but he’s looking for our faith! So many people all over the world have their faith in religion, have their faith in themselves, have their faith in a man or a system of man. But Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no man comes to the father except through me.
We just returned back to Baton Rouge from one month in Mexico. It always amazes me the plans that God has that we don’t see.
As always the Gomez brothers took care of every detail scheduling and coordinating our meetings.
We hit the ground running with a pastors conference in a large church into Tulancingo. it was very hard plowing in the beginning. The first session the pastors just stared at me. As usual we had the Scriptures on the wall with the projector and that helped them to see that this IS the word of God. The very simple teaching of justification by faith make some pastors nervous. They’ve been taught that they must work for righteousness. They have been taught and they teach if a man is overtaking in a sin he needs to do penance.
The word of God teaches exactly the opposite. The word of God teaches that the grace of God, which is Gods Son Jesus Christ and him crucified for the sins of mankind gives the believer a verdict of not guilty! Nowhere in the Bible does it teach us to fight against sin it teaches us to fight the good fight of faith! Not faith in our church not faith in our works not faith in ourselves but faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work of the cross! So when they hear that we are justified only buy that faith they have two choices… Believe the word of God or the teaching of man. Thank God most of them still believe the word of God is without error. They repent of faith in their works and receive Christ just like they did the day they were saved. This is true for the nine pastors conferences that held last month a total of more than 500 Pastors.
After the service in Tulancingo we had dinner at a Christian owned restaurant where the people were so touched and blessed they gave us our dinner for free. We also were able to give the owner an expositor study Bible and she said she loves Jimmy Swaggart.
There are so many testimonies in one month in Mexico that it would take 1000 pages to tell it all. A few really stand out.
Preaching on Romans chapter 5 about how much more we have as Christians, the Holy Spirit moved in a powerful way and many young people were set free from condemnation of past sins and received once again the joy of their salvation! There was crying and singing and rejoicing in the finished work of Christ! A FINISHED work! If we are faithful to confess our sins he is faithful to forgive them and not only forgive but to throw them into the sea of forgetfulness as far as the east is from the west and the east and the west never meet!! Romans 8:1 says there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not according to the flesh but according to the spirit. Glory to God!!
The blood of Jesus never loses its power!!
We traveled to Puebla to do a pastors conference where there were many politicians in attendance. We met a senator who is running for the governor of that state this year. She said that the government recognizes that the only answer for their country is to have more Christians. They are the only people there not having a problem with. We are not talking religion here, religious people are the meanest people on the face of the earth. Most wars are religious wars. No not religion, but a relationship with our Creator through His sons sacrifice on the cross. Jesus said unless a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. The things of the flesh are flesh and the things of the spirit are spirit we must be born again of the Spirit.
There is a pastor with a large church in Pachuca that has been appointed to be the president of the evangelistic society of all Mexico. This position was created by the Mexican government to establish more churches and to unify the churches that exist now. After hearing the message of the cross he said this is the best message that he has heard in years and now he knows the only way to unify the churches is to preach Jesus Christ and him crucified. It is not a new message. Jeremiah said “let us return to the old paths where the good way is and we will find rest for our souls. Nothing else will unify the body of Christ.
This pastor will be joining us at the upcoming Easter camp meeting in Baton Rouge. He wants to learn more about faith in the blood of Jesus can make a man free!
Unfortunately some of the churches we go to are so steeped in man’s religion and man’s foolishness that they can’t receive the simplicity that is found in Christ alone!
We were invited to do a pastors conference and then preach on the Sunday morning in a very large church with 2500 people. The pastors conference was well attended with over 300 men and women of God. But when I asked them to raise their hands if they were a pastor only about a dozen raised their hands. At the end of the first session when I asked the Pastor why there was only 12 pastors he said that we don’t allow them to call themselves Pastors. They are under our church and we call them missionaries. They are pastoring churches all over the mountains of central Mexico but he is totally into controlling the people. Religious men always want men to conform to their image but the Holy Spirit is trying to conform us into the image of Christ. Once again that is why we have so many religious wars. On Sunday morning I preached to his large crowd at the church. I was only into the message 20 minutes when the Holy Spirit told me to give an altar call for salvation. I was stunned went over 500 people raise their hands to give their life to Jesus and be born again. I told them to put their hands down and then made it very clear I was talking to only the people who had NEVER given their life to Christ and recognized they were separated from God by their sin and wanted this salvation. This time more than 200 people raised their hands, they came to the altar we said a sinners prayer and they were born again!!! Glory to God!
But here’s the problem, they were not first-time visitors, they have been in his church for months and months maybe even years and were never born again! He is not preaching the gospel. He is focused on so called miracles. After the sermon many were touched and moved by the power of God and had victory in their lives. Then the pastor went up on the platform and called 50 or 100 people up and began to pray for them. They began to fall down as he touched them. He sent an interpreter down to tell me this was going to go on for two or three hours and if I wanted to leave I could. He began to blow on the people and they would fall down. Then he called up another hundred or so. This is when Dorene and I left. I grieve for the people sitting under this man they think they’re okay with God but they are not. It is no different than the Catholic Church that tries to conform you to their image. They say salvation is only in their church. They point to a man-made religion rather than to Jesus!! I desperately wanted to speak to this man but I never did see him again. So I will pray for him to recognize the error of his way.
We traveled to the west into the very high mountains of Michoacan. We had awesome services and pastors conferences in those mountains. But as usual it was the individual testimony that stands out. There is only one road in and out of the mountains and we came to a military federal police check. There were more than a dozen armed men there to check your vehicle and ask you what you were doing in those mountains. Our host, Pastor Alberto began to preach the gospel to the captain in charge.
The captain was about 38 years old a strong hard man. Very intimidating. He scoffed at the gospel, he laughed and mocked the Bible. By this time four or five vehicles were stopped behind us waiting for us to get through the checkpoint. Then he said the word cross is not even used in the Bible. I spoke up and through our Translator told him to look at first Corinthians chapter 1 verse 18… Our driver had a Bible and opened it to that page. This hard military Mexican federal police man read that scripture and became enraged and said GET OUT OF HERE!! Go, Go!
It says “The message of the CROSS is FOOLISHNESS to those that are perishing, but to us that are saved it is the power of God”!!!
Glory Glory Glory!!!
BUT as we drove away Dorene went into her missionary mode and handed him about eight chick tracts that point the reader to their sin and the only answer for that sin – the CROSS!!! Thank God he did not stop and inspect the truck behind us that was carrying 150 Expositor Study Bibles for our Pastors conferences!
We spent a couple of days preaching and teaching In the mountains. On The way back we had to go through the checkpoint again. Would that hard bitten mean Captain with that automatic weapon be standing in the middle of the road to challenge us and make our life miserable once again? YES he was there with all his men. But this time he had a smile on his face. His countenance was totally changed. He knew who we were immediately and as I rolled down the window I said “hello Elahondro”! He said “You remember my name”! I said “of course I have been praying for you that you would receive Jesus” He said I read everyone of those booklets… All the men read all of the booklets last night too. He was in no hurry as we talked and enjoyed fellowship all around our Lord Jesus Christ. I gave him an expositor study Bible and he was overjoyed. He opened it up immediately and asked me to sign it. Dorene had a couple of more tracks that they had not seen and she gave it to him. As we drove away the presence of the Lord was so strong in the car that we rejoiced in our Lord Jesus Christ
Only the gospel can do this for a man!!!
Psychology has no answer, The programs and systems of man to heal a hard heart are useless. Not 12 steps, not a couch, but ONE WAY!! Jesus said I Am the Way!!
I was invited to teach at a bible school in Pachuca. That night
I taught on Romans chapter 5, 6, 7. It was very easy to see that they had never heard this before. They did not understand what the sin nature is and why a person sins. Even a Christian that is born again and love s God still has the sin nature in him. The only victory over the sin nature is the blood of Jesus. So we do not fight against sin we fight the good fight of faith. When we got to Romans chapter 7 I had Dorene come up and give her testimony about the two husbands. The first being law and the second being Jesus.
If only I could capture their faces as she explained to them that she was an adulterous. Of course not in the physical but spiritual adultery is what the Holy Spirit was saying in Romans chapter 7 verses one through four. Many eyes were opened that night as they received the simplicity that is found in Christ!
We left them with CDs and Bibles for them to continue to study the word of God looking for the cross of Christ on every page.
This trip to Mexico has produced several invitations for events this coming summer. We are now scheduled to preach an anniversary at a large church in Tulancingo, a pastors conference in Pueblo and then travel to the mountains to a couple of churches that Have never heard the message.
Right now we are in Columbia and have had very well attended anointed teachings and preachings in Baranquilla and Cartagena. Today is a rest day and tomorrow we travel to Venezuela. We covet your prayers and ask for protection in this socialist / communist country.
